Last update : March 7 2023

Introduction

1. We recognize that your privacy is very important, and we take it seriously. This Privacy Policy describes the policies and procedures of Agence Arobas (the “Company”) regarding the collection, use and disclosure of your information when you visit and/or use this website, available at agencearobas.ca (the “Website”).

2. We will not use or share your personal information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy does not apply to personal information we collect by other means (including offline) or from other sources.

Collection and Use

3. The Company uses the personal information it collects to operate the Website or provide related services; diagnose issues with the Website, services or technical systems; maintain security; personalize content; remember information so you can access your account more easily; analyze aggregate data such as total visitor numbers, traffic and demographic trends; and monitor User Content and users as required or useful to comply with the Copyright Act, Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation, Quebec’s legislation governing the protection of personal information in the private sector, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act and other applicable laws.

4. We cannot guarantee that this policy meets every requirement of the regulations applicable to you. However, we are committed to developing and implementing a policy that respects the main principles of data protection, with a view to aligning with the various regulations currently in force around the world.

Information You Provide

5. When you create a user account on the Website, you provide us with information about yourself, such as your name, photo and email address. We may use your email address to send you Website-related notices, including notices required by law in place of communication by postal mail, in compliance with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation. If you do not wish to receive these messages, you can unsubscribe at any time by following the instructions included in the message. If you correspond with us by email, we may retain the contents of your emails, your email address and our responses.

6. You may also provide us with information through User Content that you post on the Website. Your questions, answers, comments, suggestions and other contributions to the Website, along with related metadata (such as when they were posted), may be made publicly available on the Website and associated with your name.

Cookies

7. Our cookie policy is intended to help you better understand the measures we use to support your browsing experience on the Website.

8. Each time you visit the Website, we use cookies to store or retrieve information from your browser. A cookie is a small piece of information (a text file) that a website asks your browser to store on your device when you use the site. Cookies allow the website to remember information about you, such as your language preferences, the device you use, your IP address, your country of origin, your browser or operating system, the date and time you access the site, and the pages you visit. The types of cookies we use generally fall into four categories:

  • Strictly necessary cookies: These are needed for the Website to function properly and cannot be disabled.
  • Performance cookies (for example, Google Analytics): These help us count visits and understand traffic sources. If they are disabled, we will not be able to determine when you visited our Website. These cookies are anonymous.
  • Functionality cookies: If disabled, these cookies may cause some of our features to work less effectively or not at all.
  • Targeting cookies (for example, Facebook and LinkedIn): These collect information about your activity on our Website and other websites to build a profile of your interests. Disabling them means you will no longer receive our targeted advertising on other websites.

9. Once created, cookies generally contain no personal information beyond the URL of the website that created the cookie, the cookie’s duration and effects, and a random, encrypted, unique code. The Website’s server can read only the cookies it placed on your device; it cannot access other information on your computer or mobile device. Cookies therefore cannot scan your device or search it for personal information. Because a cookie contains very little information, it generally cannot be used to reveal your identity or personally identify you.

10. In short, we use cookies to make it easier to navigate the Website, measure our performance and compile statistical data.

11. You can configure your browser to block cookies at any time. Please note, however, that doing so may prevent you from using certain features of the Website or may cause the Website to stop functioning. In such cases, the Company accepts no responsibility for any deterioration in your browsing experience resulting from your decision to refuse, delete or block cookies that are necessary for the Website to function. Such consequences do not constitute damage, and you will not be entitled to compensation as a result.

Browsing Activity Logs

12. Each time you access a webpage, your browser automatically reports information about the events that occur during your browsing session. When you use the Website, our servers automatically record certain information your browser sends each time you visit. These server logs may include information such as your web request, IP address, browser type, referring and exit pages, number of clicks, domain names, landing pages, pages viewed and other information.

Third-Party Platforms

13. The Company may use Google Analytics to help us understand how the Website is used. Google Analytics collects information sent by your browser as part of a webpage request, including cookies and your IP address. Google Analytics also receives this information, and its use of the information is governed by its privacy policies.

How We Share Your Information

A. Personally Identifiable Information

14. The Company may share your personally identifiable information with third parties to improve your experience when accessing and/or using the Website. If we do so, those third parties’ use of your information will be subject to this Privacy Policy. We may store personal information in locations outside the Company’s direct control, for example, on servers or in databases hosted by third-party hosting providers.

15. As our business develops, we may buy or sell information, goods, services or business offerings. Information about customers and visitors, including their email addresses, is generally among the business assets involved in these types of transactions. We may also transfer or assign this information as part of a business sale, merger or dissolution.

16. We may share or disclose your information with your consent, such as when you choose to register on the Website through a third-party platform. We cannot control how those third parties use your information.

17. The Company may disclose your personal information if required by law or subpoena, or if we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to comply with a law, regulation or legal request; protect anyone’s safety; address fraud, security or technical issues; or protect the Company’s rights or property.

B. Information That Does Not Personally Identify You

18. We may share information that does not personally identify you—such as anonymous usage data, referring and exit pages and URLs, platform types and number of clicks—with interested third parties to help them understand usage patterns for certain platforms.

19. The Company may allow third-party advertising servers or networks to serve advertisements on the Website. These third-party servers or networks use technology to send advertisements and links that appear on the Website directly to your browser. When this happens, they automatically receive your IP address. They may also use other technologies, such as cookies, JavaScript or web beacons, to measure the effectiveness of their advertisements and personalize advertising content. The Company does not provide personally identifiable information to these third-party advertising servers or networks without your consent. However, please note that if an advertiser asks the Company to show an advertisement to a particular audience and you respond to that advertisement, the advertiser’s server may conclude that you match the audience it is trying to reach. The Company’s Privacy Policy does not apply in these circumstances because we cannot control the activities of third-party advertisers. Please consult those advertisers’ respective privacy policies for more information.

How We Protect Your Information

20. The Company uses commercially reasonable physical, administrative and technical safeguards to preserve the integrity and security of your personal information. However, we cannot ensure or guarantee the absolute security of information you transmit to the Company, or guarantee that information held on the Company’s platform cannot be accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed through a breach of our physical, administrative or technical safeguards.

21. As noted above, although no computer system can be completely risk-free, the Company has taken measures to protect your personal information:

  • The Website, its extensions and scripts, and other code that enables its various features are updated regularly to address potential security vulnerabilities.
  • Access to the Website’s administration area and related services (such as Google Analytics, Google AdSense and email accounts) is password-protected.
  • Access to the interfaces used to manage your personal information is through a secure, regularly updated web browser and devices equipped with security measures, such as automatic locking, antivirus software and applications, and passwords.
  • The Website uses an SSL security certificate to encrypt data sent from your device to the server.
  • Tools have been installed on the Website to continuously analyze, detect and remove potential malicious threats, including malware, malicious URLs and hacking attempts.

22. If personal information is compromised as a result of a security breach, the Company will promptly notify the individuals whose personal information was affected, in accordance with the notification procedures set out in this Privacy Policy or as otherwise required by applicable law.

Retention Period

23. The Company retains your personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. If we no longer have a legitimate business interest in processing your personal information, we will delete or anonymize it. If this is not possible—for example, because your personal information is stored in backup archives—we will store it securely and stop processing it until it can be deleted.

Your Choices Regarding Your Data

24. You may, of course, choose not to submit personally identifiable information through the Website. In that case, the Company may be unable to give you access to certain webpages or features. You can update or correct the information and preferences you have entered in your profile.

Links to Other Websites

25. We are not responsible for the practices of websites linked to or accessible from the Website, or for the information or content they contain. Remember that when you follow a link from the Website to another site, our Privacy Policy no longer applies. Your browsing and interactions on any other website, including websites linked from ours, are subject to that website’s own rules and policies.

Changes to Our Privacy Policy

26. If we change our privacy policies and procedures, we will post the changes on this page to keep you informed about the information we collect, how we use it and the circumstances in which we may disclose it. Changes to this Privacy Policy will take effect when posted on this page.
